Job Purpose & Responsibilities

This SBU provides unique offerings such as high heat resins, functional compounds and additives, specialty fluids, nanotechnology and thermoplastics composites to industries such as Additive Manufacturing, Consumer & Industrial, Electronics, Healthcare, Mass Transportation, Automotive and Water Management.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Logistics Analyst uses analytical methods and a variety of tools to understand Logistics operations, processes and activities, and controls or reduces costs. Analysts are responsible for data management, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing, recommending and implementing solutions to solve the problems.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter and detailed oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills, able to support and lead multiple projects through implementation and possess a demonstrated track record of achieving results and operational excellence. In addition, the candidate must be able to operate in a highly-matrixed environment, communicate with all levels of the organization, influence and gain commitment, and continuously develop the talent around them.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsible for a $2 Million transportation budget.
Own and manage a strategic 3PL relationship responsible for operational excellence.
Coordinate daily operations of Bulk Truck shipments. Own resolution of issues affecting cost per kg and service metrics.
Coordinate daily operations of Rail shipments. Own resolution of issues affecting cost per kg and service metrics.
Ensures accurate transaction execution in SAP.
Understand and track inflation / deflation for each mode of responsibility on a monthly basis.
Support the business through ad-hoc queries, and create and analyze reports to support business execution.
Perform data management through a combination of data mining, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis and/or problem analysis; while executing day-to-day activities related to area of responsibility.
Develop and maintain cost estimates, forecasts, and cost models. Determine cost per kg estimates and trends against operating budget and own cost per kg metrics to stay within budget. Identify and resolve cost variance drivers. Participate in monthly transportation operating review meetings to review quarterly metrics.
Identify, own and support transportation variable cost productivity projects through implementation, dashboards and corresponding metrics. Participate in monthly Total Cost Out meetings to review active and / or pending productivity projects.
Analyze and adjust weekly freight payment data for accuracy, carrier leakage and potential productivity projects. Work with Freight Payment leader and vendor, and carriers in addressing carrier-billing issues that affect cost per kg metrics.
Lead internal and external benchmarking to identify best practices as it relates to area of responsibility.
Own day-to-day operational tasks related to area of responsibility.
Provide assistance in setting transportation budget and asset requirements.
Lead Bulk Truck & Rail Transportation Procurement (yearly and ad hoc basis).
Participate in transportation ISO audits striving for Zero non-conformances.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
BS / BA Degree
Minimum 3-5 years Logistics, Supply chain or Operations experience
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong financial acumen
SAP experience in the LE Module
Possess a strategic mindset
Excellent interpersonal / communication skills
Demonstrated project management experience and ability to manage multiple priorities
Team player
Ability to work across multiple functional groups and at various levels
Computer skills including advanced Excel
Data oriented with experience analyzing large data sets using Excel and other data querying tools
2-3 years managing bulk truck / rail carriers, or working at a 3PL managing these modes
